The toxic and non-toxic me

As some of you know I mixed a green drink on an every day basis for quite some time a while back. Cucumber, celery, fresh spinach and apples filled the fridge here and both the blender and the juicer never had a chance to get dusty.
Then one day my digestive system put an end to it. In a way. I had signs that I got way too much fiber and in the beginning I stopped making that green juice all together, deciding that I should start again when the symptoms vanished and mix that drink once every second day instead. I also switched the fresh spinach for some lettuce and used only half the amount of celery.

When you start a detox it takes a while before you notice any changes and can point them out, but when you stop a detox or change the pattern of it you notice pretty much straight away when your body is storing all that poisons stuff again. And it happens pretty quickly. At least it did for me.
What vanished with that green juice was a lot: my skin changed, especially in the face, and deep wrinkles became much more shallow; no dizziness and no headaches like before; easier to focus and less lethargic; more energy overall; my body temperature stopped going up and down like a yo-yo and my mood became a lot more even. No big ups and downs at all. I also lost weight that I honestly have no clue where it came from to begin with, and I lost it in spite of eating in the same way and move just as much (or little) as before.

Now it’s been a few weeks ago since I had to fall back and make this drink once every second or third day and the different is huge. I’m always tired, my body temp flips from normal to high within seconds (and no, it’s not menopause…not yet), the hair’s gone dry and brittle and the dizziness is back again.
When it comes to the weight it’s difficult to say, but I’m not losing anything, that’s for sure. Except from clothes that fits me :p

In the past I never believed in detox, I always put it in the same box as witchcraft and ghosts :p Neatly tucked away and labeled :p
But these past few months changed my mind about that bit and now I’m almost ready to believe in ghosts and witchcraft too. Almost :pp Seriously, it has an amazing effect on the system and it made me realize how food can make a difference.
I mean, I’ve read about how fast food affects children and teenagers, and that it will make them both moody and difficult to deal with. And most food these days, not just fast food, is full of additives of all kinds and it affects grownups as well, no question about that.

So now I need to get my hands on a nutritionist or similar. The nurse I talked to at the docs office a few weeks back knew less about this than I did, so she wasn’t especially helpful. She handed over brochures and that was pretty much it. I could have picked those up in the waiting room :p
That NHS here won’t provide any preventive health care I already know…but they should since they are the ones who slap people around for being obese and sick. How can anyone stay healthy if they won’t teach people how to eat?? It’s just stupid.

I might just continue with this drink and slowly upper the amount I’m drinking in a week to see if my body will adjust better that way. It might have gone in to a shock or something since I literally poured it full off all that good stuff on an every day basis from day 1 :p
In any case, I might have to find a better substitute for that fresh spinach than lettuce. The green veggies is what makes a difference. Well, the outer layer on the cucumber is actually great for detoxing as well, just as the celery and the apple…but I might have to add something else that is all green to kick my system in the right direction again as it seems.

But it really makes a huge difference to drink that juice on a daily basis…that I can assure you.

A very clumsy day

If you’re on Twitter you’ve already seen my Zorro cup cakes today…and if not, they’re in the picture to the left. Cup cakes is not one of my favorite things to do, I have to admit that. Way too many things that can and will go wrong, and today has been extreme.
It’s been one of those days when I dropped things (my fork went in the floor while I had dinner for one thing) or spilt liquid of different kinds here and there. Last thing I flipped over was my water glass when I sat down at the desk here and Robin’s netbook had a little swim :p Before that it’s been black food color, water, cream and pretty much anything else that hasn’t been nailed to a surface.

In spite of that I did manage to put together 22 cup cakes :p A pure wonder if you ask me.
The sponge cake in these is chocolate cake. Then I split them in the middle side ways and filled them with a thick custard. After that I covered them in whipped cream and put a thin layer of pink marzipan on top. The “Z” is melted chocolate. Piece’a'cake….literally :p

Right now they’re in the fridge calming down after my treatment. And it’s a wonder they survived my clumsy doings in the kitchen today…geez…

We also had a very needed thunderstorm today. Thor loves this place once he discovered it and there has to be loads of giants to chase in the valley’s here coz it didn’t want to end. For a while it cleared up and we had some bright sunshine against a clear blue sky, but then I guess there was more giants around coz Thor came back :p Right now it’s cloudy and the rain comes and goes. Haven’t heard any thunder during the past half hour, but that can always change. It sure cleared the air, which was very nice :)

Now it’s time to enjoy a cup of java while it’s still in my mug. We’ll see how long it’ll take before I flip that over too :

Hanging upside down

Well, this is the behind of my son and upside down is Alexander, my grandson…hehehe  And it looks like they’re having a really good time :D I snatched more photo’s from this occasion, but there is a day tomorrow too with posts that need some sort of decoration :D

Talking about decorations, I spent some time this afternoon fiddling with the layout in here, but didn’t come up with anything useful at all. Somehow it’s more difficult when you are about to make a theme for yourself, possibly because you can do whatever you want. And it’s the lack of limits that renders me completely blank. So I will use what you see around here until further notice. Normally when you make a theme for a personal blog you find out a bit about who the blog belongs to and their interest. And what the blog is about. Well, that’s the problem here with me. I’ve got too many interests and I could most likely fill the entire space in the background here with illustrations that has to do with painting, cooking, baking, music, photography, design, Steampunk and so on. I might turn it into a daily project and paint one thing a day in here and later see where it all ends up :p

Anyway…it’s bedtime soon and I really need to get some rest. Slept for a couple of hours in the morning today (again) and  I’ve had no naps at all, so hopefully I will be out cold. The last hour I’ve smashed Daddy Longlegs. Had a window open next to the desk and somehow they managed to find their way in in spite of the blind being closed and everything.

Time to catch Mr Sandman before he’ll flip Robin around with that brick and forgets about me again :p
Back tomorrow :D

Facebook privacy issues, my grandson and stuff :)

Alexander’s grandfather (Peter’s dad) was 48 years old on Saturday, so they went to his house for a birthday party. The photo in this post was taken during that party and the light was bright that day, which explains why Alexander is squinting a bit. He also had his 5th tooth :D

That’s family so far :)

In the news in some places today there’s been articles about Facebook and their privacy issues…again. And this time it’s getting outright silly, at least if you ask me. Anyone with privacy issues shouldn’t sign up anywhere and leave any information they don’t want to share with strangers, that’s my take on privacy online. The Internet is not a safe place in general when it comes to your personal information or whatever you put up in a profile. And I think the sooner everyone understands that and accept it, the less of a hassle it will be.
Less frustrating too for that matter.

There’s a general Quit Facebook Day announced where people will commit to close their account because of the latest privacy problems. And unless you already seen this, anyone’s been able to read what you write in your status update, no matter if you have them on your friends list or not.
And already over 15,000 people are upset enough about this to shut down their accounts over this.

It makes me wonder…what on earth do you guys write in your status updates? What could possibly be so personal and of such secrecy that you can’t show it to the rest of the planet??? If you have that kinda secrets, well, in that case you should keep them to yourself and not put them on Facebook in the first place.

Whatever I don’t want the rest of the planet to know I never put on the web at all. Since I’m working with the web I know how vulnerable it can be and maybe the regular user should get some kind of knowledge about that before they open a browser and are allowed to use a keyboard in the first place. I’m not defending Facebook in any way because I do think that they could make their privacy options a bit easier to understand…that I agree with. However, we’re living in a world where no one will give you any information unless you ask for it, so why would it be any different with internet?

If you want to use the web, Facebook or any other community, I suggest that you keep your secrets to yourself, get some kind of knowledge how badly protected your information really is anywhere online and stop complaining! No one forced you to hand over all that info to Facebook in the first place.
There. Rant over.

Other than that I woke up this morning and felt a lot better than I did during the weekend that passed. After coming back from town and a lot of running around I was rather exhausted though, so things are not quite back to normal just yet. My chest is still hurting, there’s this wheezing sound when I breathe and a lot of phlegm that taste like death is coming up when I cough….so I’m going back to see the doc on Thursday morning like scheduled. Better to be safe than sorry, especially with the lungs.
But my nose is a lot better, no burn at all and I’m sure it’s all thanks to the ice cream :D

Hope your day is a good one :))

Hot hot hot

There are some tiny fluffy white clouds on the sky today that fill absolutely no purpose what so ever. They give no shade because they’re not big or dense enough and I’m hoping that at some point this afternoon they will gather and offer some rain. And thunder :)

It’s the second or third day now with this kind of heat and I have no clue how may degrees we have…but it’s more than enough for me. Add to that symptoms of a flu and you’ve got my day. But in spite of all that, I’m hungry :P And I want ice cream :p But since I’m alone and unsupervised with the nearest store being miles away, I can’t get any ice cream :( No car either.

So instead I’m sippin’ water and doing some painting with breaks for some fresh air now and then. There’s no breeze out there and no shade (our landlord took down every darn tree last year) so it doesn’t matter much for the sake of the temp. But at least it’s better air :)

And that cool feeling from the shower this morning lasted for about 10-15 minutes :p Then everything felt hot and sticky again. Should have stayed in the shower :pp

I hope you guys spend the day at the beach or by a pool somewhere instead of indoors. And I really hope it’s without the bug I’ve got.
