Ashley Olsen is not herself any more :p
I think it’s safe to say that this isn’t Ashley Olsen any more…there’s no doubt about that :p
After doing a test with skin texture vs brush strokes I decided to stick with the skin texture and leave the brush strokes on the hooded cloak. And I’ve also changed her eyes…or at least one of them, making them look very similar for the sake of a bit more balance in the face.
The color of her eyes was also changed and made to stand out a bit more.
The hooded cloak had a faint brown shade and I relit the entire painting afterwards.
And that’s pretty much it :)
There’s a bigger version if you click the image above :)
Painting hooded cloak
I guess you can’t say that this is Ashley Olsen any more :p
I’m taking a break for something to eat so I thought I’d post this before I forget and finish it without ya :p
To paint clothes overall is no fun, but it’s interesting to paint folds in fabric. If nothing else because it can go so terribly wrong :pp This hooded cloak is not ready just yet, but it’s getting there. It needs more of everything, but maybe mostly something that actually keep it closed. And I will add that as soon as I’m done with everything else.
I’m torn between keeping the brush strokes on her skin and smooth them into submission with a brush so it’ll look like skin texture :p I might do what I usually do and try it out. Can always revert the whole thing if it doesn’t look good. She looks dead enough already so I really don’t want to add to that :p
Her eyes have had some more details and I will continue to modify her face now that I’ve got some more color to take into consideration. The background is in a non-colored shade and I’m not sure what to do with that just yet. Might leave it that way…or I might repaint. We’ll see.
Now it’s time to make some scones and have some more tea ;)
More laters :)
A demon in a hooded cloak :p
Since I posted the sketches of this I’ve done the following:
Loosely painted her face. Still need to add some more shades of everything to her skin and make it a bit less rough. Her eyes and lips need more work…and well, it’s not finished yet…that’s the easy way to put it :p
I’ve also changed my mind about a thing or two. I won’t paint her hair. Instead I’m dressing her in a hooded cloak. It will add to the demonic look I’m giving her face…and I might allow some strands of blond hair peek out here and there around her face, but that will be it. The hooded cloak is nothing but a basic layer of paint for the sake of knowing roughly where it’ll be.
Next update her face will probably be done. And I might even have done some work on that hooded cloak.
While I’m waiting for web site content…
I’m waiting for some more content for a web site I’m in the middle of, so in the meantime I’m painting a bit again :) This time it’s one of the Olsen twins, Ashley. I’m not a big fan or anything. To me she’s what I remember the most from “Full House” as one out of two very cute girls.
Anyway…above is a regular sketch of her. I can tell you right away that I wouldn’t spend 5 minutes painting her the way she really looks. Her face is too young to be interesting and too plain to be special for the sake of making a good painting. Comments in the name of art of course.
However, the twisted view she (and her sister) must have in their mirror image came to mind. So I’m tweaking her a bit :p
I guess you could say that this is how attractive I find young skinny actresses :p And she won’t really look any better once I started the painting itself. The colors I’ve decided to use are rather dark, a bit of an unhealthy shade of green and yellow to be precise. At least that’s the plan.
It will take a while to finish this and I haven’t got a clue how much time I will have during the afternoon today. I’ve got invoices to print as well….joys :p
But anyway….as soon as I’ve got something more to show….and the last sketch might change when I start to paint, so who knows…I will upload it in here :) In the meantime I hope everyone had a great weekend :D
And the winner is…
…@symatt and Carolyn Scott :D
I decided to split this up since Facebook and Twitter in some cases are split in two camps :p @symatt get the big print and Carolyn can pick out a print in a smaller size :)
So send me the info of which print you want together with your postal address in an email. There’s a form in the contact tab above if you want to use that. Otherwise you can get in touch with me via Facebook or Twitter of course.
The sooner you get in touch, the sooner the prints will be with you :)
Now it’s time to get back to work. I will be back later :)
