Bette Davis eyes are ready :)
For some reason I got stuck in a silly game when I was suppose to open Photoshop again earlier, which means that I’ve spent less than two hours during the evening painting on this :p
But I’ve finished the eyes :D At least the iris, eye whites and that bit. Still fiddling with eyelashes.
The shading is a real challenge. The more I look at the reference photo, the more levels of grey I find and I can continue painting her skin forever :p Although, at some point I will have to settle for only a few grey’s since I don’t want to paint this forever :p
Since the reference photo isn’t quite as old as the one of Jean Harlow, you can actually see some skin texture too…so I’m fiddling with that bit as well. Mainly around the eyes right now. Gotta start somewhere :)
Believe it or not, but I’m still trying to get use to that I can pick a brush that will do pores, hair and other things for me. When you paint on a canvas, the only way out is a very thin brush and that’s it. No shortcuts at all. And that is mainly why I’ve always considered painting in Photoshop and do it the digital way is a bit of cheating. Not that I’m complaining…I love the fact that I can work with layers, use History to undo stuff and so on. It’s not that easy when you’re working in oil paint ;)
Anyway…this is what it looks like right now. Since we don’t really have any huge plans for tomorrow (and Robin has developed a nasty headache as well) I might continue during the weekend as well :)
