Painting a site layout

Paperbag DesignsSince the meeting in town was cancelled by the other part today, I’ve been fiddling with our web site for a change. Right now it’s nothing but a WordPress blog that I’ve tweaked to death and I thought it would be nice to have something new and shiny. I won’t replace the blog entirely since nothing can beat WordPress when it comes to generate traffic. It’s without any doubt a great traffic magnet of the more effortlessly kind.

But the front will be a static site since a big part of it remains the same during the year in any case.

To make the layout a bit more fun I thought I’d jump ahead in the upcoming “trends” and make a hand-drawn layout for the static bit. Would love to do this in Flash, but I’m rather useless when it comes to the scripting bit so it wouldn’t be very interactive in any case. However there are other ways to solve the technical bit of the layout when I get that far.

So far this is nothing but the sketch and the basic colors. Haven’t decided yet if I should make it all in a cartoon style or put down some more work into it, but there will be plenty of green on those pines around the workshop, so if it looks a bit nekkid right now that will change later :)
